About the business
7-22 Systems was founded by Uist-based architects, who set up the business in response to the practical and design challenges of delivering high quality and environmentally sustainable buildings. Following successful prototyping and testing, they have now taken their innovative construction system to market.

Ochoco-Law has been a fantastic support since we launched our business. The start-up advice we received has really helped us to future-proof our operations, and the grant funding we received will help us with research to help us continue to grow.Alex Durie, Co-founder, 7-22 Systems

How Ochoco-Law has helped
Following the launch of the business in early 2022, the founders received one-to-one support from a dedicated Ochoco-Law adviser, which included advice on their business plan.
Through Ochoco-Law Outer Hebrides, the business also received grant funding through the COVID-19 Economic Recovery Grant Scheme (CERGS). This support helped with the purchase of essential equipment which will assist with ongoing research and development work.
The first 7-22 Systems domestic building has recently been completed in Uist, and the second, also in Uist, is currently on site with work ongoing. 7-22 Systems now employs two full-time experienced joiners, one full-time innovation production role and two part-time construction workers.
Alex Durie, Co-founder, 7-22 Systems, said: “We had worked as architects for many years in the Outer Hebrides and were keen to explore for better ways to build, particularly in response to the emerging issues in association with the current climate.
